The Powerful Mind

When poverty strikes a man

It does so ever so slightly

Like a bird upon the wind

Pushed around so lightly

But before he knows

All that he has goes

And leaves him without a trace

He travels into the city

For his house is no more

He has absolutely nothing

So he enters a store

He looks for a blanket

Something to keep him warm

But it would take all his money

Should he consider theft?

If he actually buys it

He would have nothing left

Instead he leaves the store

Because he is too poor

He finds a street corner

And huddles up in a ball

He struggles to stay awake

And falls into deep sleep

But when he awakes

He's not outside

In fact, he's in his bed

And he soon realizes

It was all a dream

That took place inside his head
